Well, Happy December! In less than 30 days, it'll be 2018... Let that sink in.
God is showing us how He is + who He is.
When we face conflict, We shouldn't convince our mind that God doesn't love us or care for us and that He is freely willing to let us suffer, just because.
When we face a struggle, God isn't sitting back laughing at us and saying, "Ha, let's see them get through this on their own." But for some reason, we tend to think that is exactly what He is doing. That God just vanishes. He disappears when the going gets tough. As if He alone isn't our victory---but to think that He wouldn't stand front & tall in the face of our battles. Wow. How dare we?
Instead, God is waiting... Yes, He is actually patiently waiting for us to get our ACT RIGHT! Because child, we are lost without Him.
One story that I love when thinking of God. He is like the father in the parable of the prodigal son. Of course, he is hurt when I disobey or when I lean towards the world and not him, but he is still loving on me. He is still giving me chance after chance to come back to him. He is allowing me a space for my comeback. God is still working even when I'm complaining or when I feel nothing but silence and stillness. And when I return, God is rejoicing, not condemning. God is joyful because all along he has been waiting for your return.
Recently, I decided that I wanted to go back to the start. I want to read the bible all over again because I firmly believe that for each season in your life, God will speak to you through His word in different ways. In Genesis, no matter what season you're in, these words written in the bible are clear as day for anyone to receive. Genesis 6 speaks about the people acting out against Gods plan and the extent of human wickedness on the earth. In verse 6:6 it says, "The Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart."
It broke His heart. This really stood out to me because so often we encounter all of what we call heartache, pain, depression, uneasiness, discomfort and so much that is taking control of who we are. How often do we stop to think about God and how His heart feels?
Side note, reading this made me want to start asking people "how is your heart today?" as opposed to asking, "How are you?"
We have to understand ourselves in order to understand life and in order to comprehend life itself, we must know God and know His love for us. When we hurt, He hurts. But still, He helps fight our battles and doesn't fall short or give up and quit. Of course, we are not God. But if only we could always remember this when times are tough, maybe, just maybe things will seem a little easier.
I read something in my devotional that I just wanted to share with the world. But, I'll share it with the very few of you that want to receive.
"Whatever crisis you are facing, God is waiting in the wings to deliver you from that crisis. His solution probably won't look anything like yours, but He will bring you the comeback you've been waiting for."
Sit on that thought!
As December hits, remember that you have come this far. The year might not have gone exactly how you wanted it to, but keep in mind that sometimes, most of the time, a lot of the time, God's plan has a different look than what we expect/want.
Exodus 14:14 The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.
