I have always had a thing for bucket lists. There's this sort of fulfillment when you begin to check off the things that you once said you wanted to do. It's pretty much a simple list that helps you keep track of when you achieve them all. However, there is just one problem with some of the things that get added to bucket lists - they seem unachievable! Or… are they?
Sure, it’s great to add some once-in-a-lifetime challenges and adventures to your bucket list, but many people think that they will never be able to bring life to these dreams. But where there’s a will, there’s a way, right? Obviously! There are always ways you can achieve your dreams, even if that dream is to travel halfway around the world to climb a mountain!
Here are some of the most common bucket list entries and how you can make them happen.
Get To Base Camp On Everest
For those of you who dream of climbing a world-famous peak, you might have your sights set on Mount Everest’s Base Camp. However, this can be an extremely expensive trip, and it’s a good idea to be prepared with some basic mountaineering skills. Don’t worry if that puts you off, though, you might want to check out the treks available at https://www.kandooadventures.com/trekking-in-nepal/everest-charity-treks/ as they help to make the mountain more accessible to people. It’s also a great way to raise some cash for charity in the process!
Run The New York Marathon
This is something I have always set my eyes on. Honestly, I have yet to put it on my bucket list because of my fear of never achieving it. The New York Marathon is one of the most famous races on the face of the earth. However, even if you are already very experienced in marathon running, you might still find it hard to get a place. As it is so popular, it is often oversubscribed, and places are often given out via a ballot system. There are some ways you can guarantee entry, though, such as running for a charity or if you are able to run a qualifying marathon race under a set amount of time.
Hike The Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail is a world-famous hiking route that stretches all the way from Manning Park in British Columbia, Canada, to the US’s border with Mexico. You can find more information on it at https://www.halfwayanywhere.com/pacific-crest-trail/. In recent years, it has grown in popularity since the US author Cheryl Strayed wrote about it in her biography, and Reese Witherspoon played her in the film adaptation. As the trail is so long, you can imagine how long it takes. So, this is something that you will need to save up for well in advance. It’s also best to do it in between jobs while you have plenty of time off to do it in.
