New York Fashion Week
About a month ago, I decided to quit my job in order to finish school. A few days after telling my job that I would be putting in my 2 week-notice, I received an email. The email stated that I was invited to be a guest Blogger for their fashion show during New York Fashion Week. To be honest, I don't even know where or how Plitz found me or my blog, but I was thrilled! For me, it was just a simple way of God telling me that I had made the right decision to quit my job and that doors would be opening the more that I trust in Him.
I believed it to be the call of God; that the future holds so much more for me than a simple 9 to 5 job. Of course being invited to that fashion show was not the call on my life, but it was certainly a way for me to remember that God has a greater plan even when one door closes. A reminder to not allow the devil to rob me.
I had the opportunity of meeting some of the designers from the show and being among one of many asking them questions. Designing a line of clothing in hopes that a wide audience of people would accept and wear your items is tough on it's own, so I commend each and every designer that presented to us.
However, my favorite from the show was an artist from the show whose line was a representation of women empowerment, Woman's Touch Apparel. She incorporated a little bit of the current trend, like Dashiki prints, and added her own twist with inspiring and encouraging words written boldly on the attire.
For my first Fashion Week show, I'd say it was a great experience!
